Gourds Two Ways!

This month marks the first Holiday weekend happily filled with turkey, pumpkin pie and enjoying the warm company of family and friends! Although Thanksgiving is right around the corner I've decided to make the Feature Space the Dining Room but do promise to provide you with a simple and quick solution to your last minute centerpiece addition...if you're anything like me that is!

So let's face it, the grocery stores are currently stocked, littered and ready to sell the perfect and inexpensive Gourds that can be used to create a unique centerpiece that will transition us into fall decor. They can be very versatile little things if you try to think outside of the norm and so for this reason I've chosen two of the many different ways to use them on your table top decor.

The first and more simple and efficient way to use the gourds would be to showcase them in all of their natural glory! All it would take would be a quick run to the closest grocery store to pick up some little friends...the quirkier the better! With the addition of decorative serving bowls or even a few candles like the two inspiring pictures above you can very quickly create a bold look to embody your dining table. Although both looks use the gourds in their natural sense they've created different ambiances...use a little greenery and fruit to bring a warm touch or create something more ghoulish with the use of black accents. Either way, both looks are wonderful and very easy to put together!

Another way to create a completely different look with the Gourds is to paint them! Although a few more steps would be involved in order to produce the modern look, if the time would permit you could really make a conversational piece that will leave your guests inspired to create their own! I particularly enjoy the pop of blue used in the photo found above and the way it was used to add a light and airy feel to an oftentimes heavy and much darker decor season. The paint can also be used to create a more glitzy and feminine look by using gold and copper accents contrasting against the simplicity of white. Both painted looks would need a couple of spray can bottles and the desire to be crafty but definitely a fun way to keep it fresh for the month of October.
