Urban Barn Workshop - Layers of Fall

I recently had the opportunity to host the Fall Urban Barn Workshop and had so much fun! Fall is definitely my most favorite season so I was more than happy to join fellow Urban Barn Shoppers in this seasons Workshop!

As soon as the temperature starts to drop we cannot help ourselves from pulling out all of those warm, cozy and fuzzy blankets or pillows and get ready to winterize! So it only seemed fitting that the topic for the fall season would be all about LAYERS! As you can imagine layering for fall is all about fluctuation! It can be cold in the morning and evenings but still nice and warm during the day when the sun is at its hottest so its important to have those layers that you can remove or add when needed!

Layering in the Bedroom:

The most common area in your home to add some of these layered options would of course be the bedroom! Something I tried to focus on was to be practical....and to use your guest room!!! We all love to walk into an Urban Barn showroom and see the beds decorated all the way to cloud 9; pillows on pillows, multiple duvet sets, a quilted throw and of course a large faux fur blanket to top it all off.

But is this really manageable in your everyday bed??

Decorate your bedroom in layers so you can have the convenience and beauty of course, but turn your spare room into that showroom that everyone knows and loves....that wow factor for guests and for you every time you walk past! A room you want to leave the door open to at all times. This is where you can truly get carried away and create that beautiful layered oasis that you don't have to remove every night before bed!

Layering In the Dining Room:

The other room that Urban Barn wanted to focus on for your layering information was the Dining Room....and this is where we can really start to think outside of the box! With the holiday season coming up and family dinners around the corner it is a great time to redecorate the dinning room in a way that is a stepping stone to your holiday decor!

When thinking about layers for the dining table we often go for placemats or table runners, which should really be the foundation for your accents. From here you can think to add layers in a different way, use objects to add visual layers while playing with different heights. Use candle holders to add height to your decor as well as add an additional scent to layer into your overall decor as well. It can also create an eclectic and layered feel when incorporating two different/contrasting dish sets to your table as well.

The real thing to take away from the Layering Workshop would be to think outside of the box; don't just go for those fuzzy layers! Use decorative objects to add layers through height, use lighting to add another visual kind of layer, or even candles to layer on the beautiful scents inside your home......and then go for the fuzzies of course!
