Nature's Very Own: October
This month's nature's very own is inspired by the two outstanding chestnut trees that grow on either side of our driveway here in Ontario. Once their leaves begin to fall these two beauties also drop a ton of chestnuts. But you certainly wouldn't think so if you saw their outer shell! The chestnut features a very distinct spiky look that goes from a bright green shell in the summer to a very dark hard shell in the fall. Once this spiky nut falls down and cracks open you can roast it in a fire and bring together all your christmas desires! (By the way, little side note...Christmas is 70 days away!!)
Not only can these items found in our backyard produce a delicious smell they will also be used to create this month's colour scheme and in keeping with our feature space of the month - The Dining Room - I've sourced some items online to represent the colour scheme inspired by the pictures above.
Nature's Very Own
How I incorporated the colours of the chestnut into the Dining Room:
You can see in the pictures above that the chestnut boasts a few different colours between the nut itself and the shell. I found that the nut features an almost leathery-like resemblance on most of its surface and used that to incorporate the leather dining chairs I found on Wayfair. These 'Cottonwood Genuine Leather' chairs have such a lovely rich brown colour to them and will match nicely with the muted brown and soft look of the 'Landrum Dining Table' also found on Wayfair.
I've also incorporated the light creamy colour found within the shell of the chestnut and it's complimenting shade with Benjamin Moore Paints: Fresh Air & Chestertown Buff as a way to lighten up the overall decor of the table. I found these two beautiful table runners that would look wonderful layered with each other...the solid one at the bottom and the lovely fall detail on top. Complimented with the fun pumpkin decor pieces we can create a modern yet luxurious look for this month's Dining Room Inspired By Nature!
