3 Ways To Warm Up Your Entry!

  • Nov 27, 2017

Now that both Canadian and American Thanksgiving is over I'm sure everyone is thinking about how they can update the look of their entryway in order to warm it up for the upcoming holiday season! Especially now that the weather is getting cold outside we want our friends, family and guests to feel the warmth our home has to offer from the time they enter the door...so for that reason I decided to make the Entryway the feature room for November. The following are three easy tips to warm up your entryway...

1 - Art

Many people decide within the first few seconds of seeing something whether or not they like it and for that reason I want you to think of your entryway as the opening act to a show...you want to be able to captivate your guests from the moment they enter your home! You can very easily set the tone as to what style of decor you enjoy and will be seen throughout your home with the first piece of art that your guests see. When paired with an accent table or a hall table you can really create a feature vignette to make your entryway seem more inviting. Not to mention it gives you a place to drop your keys when you walk in the door! If you feel like you may not have enough space in the entryway try and look down the hall or even up the stairs for a place to create a focal point to draw the eye in and also create that initial decor introduction.

2 - Mirror

Many designers and decorators alike would agree to the fact that adding a mirror will add depth and enlarge the overall appearance of your space. And this rule of thumb is quite true and works amazingly in the entryway, especially if yours is on the smaller end of the scale! Mirrors can be within the same budget as adding a piece of art to the space but is a great alternative. With so many different styles of mirrors out there it can be an effective way to showcase your decor sense and most importantly...when showcased with your accent or hall table and a table lamp you really add such an amazing amount of warmth to that first impression your guests will feel when they walk into your home!

3 - Light

As I mentioned before, a table lamp...or even a small floor lamp (depending on the amount of space you have) can be an excellent addition to your entryway and most likely to be the easiest way to add warmth. Once you've created a focal point in your space with a piece of art or mirror and likely an accent table that hopefully has some storage for your gloves, hats and scarves - you're ready to find the perfect table lamp to add that warmth and highlight the feature wall you've created. If space permits you can add two matching table lamps on either side of your hall table to really amplify that warm and cozy feeling. I find that adding lamps can really set an inviting and even romantic mood to your entry!
